Barcode-Template Settings

A barcode label is a unique code to identify items. This means each item has its own code that cannot be used by any other item. Many manufactured items come with pre-existing barcodes that can be scanned into the Item Code field on Item Definition screen.

Nimbus RMS can also generate barcodes for the SKUs entered in the system. Nimbus does this by creating barcode graphics for all item codes. Depending on the size of the code you can select the appropriate barcode template and print item barcodes from various screens in Nimbus RMS.

Nimbus RMS also provides you with the option to customize barcode templates according to your requirements.

Barcode Template Settings

To access the Barcode Template Settings screen, go to Utilities>Setup and Configuration>Barcode Template Settings.

Using Pre-Built Barcode Templates

Step 1: Choose a Barcode Option

From the Option dropdown:

Option 1 – Use for larger barcodes (e.g., garments, fashion). Suitable when additional information like size and color is required.

Option 2 – Use for smaller barcodes (e.g., grocery, electronics).

Click the info icon next to the dropdown to view details about each option.

Step 2: Select a Barcode Template

From the Select Template dropdown, choose a pre-built template.

After selecting a template, click the info icon to view the height and width of that template & ensure your printer settings match these dimensions to print correctly.

Currency Symbol: Enter the currency symbol to display on the barcode.

Hide Fields: Mark the checkboxes to exclude specific fields (e.g., Price, Name, etc.) from printing. For example, to hide the price, check the Price box.

Note: “Expiry” and “Manufacturing Date” checkboxes are only available in customized barcode templates.

Step 3: Set Width and Height

Width: (It is for the barcode width). Select a size from the dropdown. A message will guide you on the suitable code length for the selected size.

Example: Selecting “Size 1” may display a message like “Appropriate for 13-digit codes.”

Tip:

For longer codes (more than 12 digits), use smaller sizes (e.g., Size 0).

For shorter codes (4–5 digits), use larger sizes (e.g., Size 5) for a bigger font display.

Height: Adjusts the vertical height of the barcode bars.

Size 5 increases the height up to 24.63 mm.

Step 4: Apply Label Margins
