What are Item Based Attributes and their importance?
As discussed in the article ‘What are Attributes’, Item-based attributes are tags that are applicable to all items irrespective of the departments. Item attributes help you further refine your Item identification by attaching more tags to each item.
There are seven item-based attributes. Two are hard coded: Calendar Season & Brand. The captions of the rest can be customized according to your requirements.
Changing Captions of Item Based Attributes
All item based attributes can be customized meaning retailers can change the attribute name according to their requirements by going to the System configuration>Item tab.

Adding new Item Attribute:
To define values under any attribute, go to Items>Item-Based Attributes to navigate to the Item-based attribute screen



Select Item Attribute from the menu to load the screen
Click the New button.
In the Name field specify the name of the attribute.
In the Comments field, you may add some related information if you want.
Click Save.
Viewing your Item Attribute Records
All the added item attribute data, under any attribute, can be viewed on the Records tab of the screen.
To delete or update a specific item double click the item attribute from the table or select it and press the Edit button.
This will load the data.
If you want to update a record, make the required changes and click the Update button to save the record.
To delete a record, press the Delete button.
Attaching Item Attributes to Items
On the Item Definition screen, define the item you want to assign attributes to.
Click the Attribute Grp 2 link to expand the attribute section.
Click inside the desired attribute field and select the appropriate value to assign to the item.



Click Save to apply the changes.
